The Expanse Fan Site

Summary
The Expanse is a popular Sci-fi Television series. I designed, built, and optimized an information hub to engage fans looking for deeper information about the Expanse Universe.
-
Discovery
Early on, I knew that meaningful and accurate content would be the heart of this site. Fans of this series would be looking for information about the main characters and an overview of all available seasons, as well as backstory to enhance the story being told on the screen. I did most of my research on the history of the series universe, overviews of the main factions, and prominent technologies.
An Information Architecture was used to make sure that the depths of the content were easily findable for the end-user.

Visual Branding
The Expanse has a strong visual style in the show's title and on-screen-graphics. I worked from existing media to derive a design system of colors, fonts, and visual treatments to keep the viewer immersed in the Expanse Universe. Style tiles were used to test out different combinations, and later full comps were rendered to nail down the site's look-and-feel.
Ultimately this Style Guide communicates the futuristic, intriguing, and power-struggle found in the Expanse series.

Development
The goals of the codebase for this project were to provide clear functionality of the site and a consistent site structure with an overall modular design for future content. Using vanilla HTML and CSS for delivery keeps the content accessible and easily maintained. The end-result is fully tested to be standards compliant and supported in the audience's most common browsers.
